The A to Z of Building Better Municipalities
September marks back to school and the start of a new season, and we wanted to mark it too. Over the next few weeks, we're going to explore the A to Z of how Perry Group supports municipalities across Canada, one letter at a time. Some of it will be services you already know us for. Some of it won't be. Here's a first look.
A is for AI. We help municipalities get their information, data and GIS assets under control, and part of that is figuring out how AI actually fits into day to day workflows and operations, not as a buzzword but as a practical tool. That means helping teams extend access to data and systems while still meeting compliance requirements, and helping leadership sort out where AI genuinely saves time versus where it just adds risk. We think municipalities that start experimenting now, carefully and with the right guardrails, will be in a much stronger position than the ones that wait.
B is for business continuity planning. Every municipality depends on services that can't just stop, whether that's water, emergency response, or payroll. We help municipalities understand where their technology-based risks actually sit, build out mitigating strategies, and put together corporate business continuity and disaster recovery plans, so that when an incident or disruption hits, and eventually one will, there's already a plan in place instead of a scramble.
C is for cybersecurity. This connects directly to business continuity, because a cyber incident is one of the most common ways a municipality's plans actually get tested. We help municipalities understand their technology risk, build out cybersecurity strategy and programs, and get governance in place before something goes wrong, not after. We've seen firsthand what it looks like when a municipality has to rebuild core systems under pressure after an incident, and the municipalities that recover fastest are the ones that had already done this groundwork.
That's A, B and C. Follow along as we work through the rest of the alphabet over the coming weeks.
