IT Strategy

We are a team of experienced IT leaders and managers, turned consultants who provide independent IT advice. We have a breadth of experience helping Executives and IT leaders explore options, evaluate opportunities and develop winning strategies. We’ve helped our clients deal with many challenging issues over the years, but our core business involves:

GIS Strategy

Members of our team have extensive GIS experience at federal, provincial and local government levels in Canada, US and the UK. Through our partnership with Steve Grise at Vertex 3 we have conducted many GIS assessment and strategy projects.

GIS is a critical platform for municipalities. We have learned that GIS management is complex, and more often than not there is lots of history associated with GIS in most organizations - and people have lots of opinions. We know that people, process and technology have to be aligned and working together, roles and responsibilities have to be clearly defined to get the most out of GIS. We’ve helped many organizations figure out how to achieve this alignment and definition.

Recent projects include GIS strategies and projects for Kingston, Cambridge, Regina, Richmond Hill, Markham and the Region of Waterloo.


Digital Strategy

Our team has extensive experience planning and delivering digital and eGovernment strategy work. We have developed Digital Strategies with a number of organizations including Oakville and Burlington, Vaughan and York Region. We are working currently with Halton Region, Abbotsford and Kincardine on Digital Transformation planning.


Digital Academy

We have developed an education / training course for municipalities looking to lift up the digital acumen and savviness of their leadership and management ranks. The course helps leaders develop a strong understanding of digital, the impact on municipalities and the opportunities that digital presents. It then provides insights, knowledge and advice on how to proceed with their own service digitization program.


CUStomer service STRATEGY

Our team has deep real world experience both planning, implementing and operationalizing municipal corporate customer service programs. Our team have worked in and implemented integrated, multi channel, consolidated service centres, implemented CRM and aligned digital strategies to drive channel shift. We have worked with a number of municipalities to help them develop customer service strategies and tactics, plan for CRM implementations and sequence customer service implementation work. 

Most recently, we have been working with the City of Guelph to align their Customer Service and Digital programs and to evaluate the options for moving to a 311 service.


IT Leader and IT Management Mentoring Services

In this program, we are matching experienced mentors with mentees to provide twice a month one-on-one mentorship sessions. A mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor from Perry Group who has extensive experience in technology management in the municipal environment.

Our mentorship program is designed to help mentees develop and grow, to provide independent feedback outside of the management hierarchy, and to share valuable insights and perspectives from the mentor's own experience. The mentorship program is not designed to provide technical or technology advice. Instead, the program is focused upon developing the mentee’s approach to technology, people, relationship and process management.


IT systems planning and procurement

Our team has extensive experience facilitating, supporting, evaluating and implementing a range of large solutions, including Asset Management and Work Management Systems, Planning, Permitting, Licensing and Regulatory Management Systems, ERP Systems, EDMS and CRM systems. We can help develop or review your RFP from an external perspective - ensuring better responses.


Business process optimization

Our team has a wealth of experience in Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Lean Six Sigma and have developed a simple and proven methodology for Business Process Optimization. We have worked with numerous organizations conducting Business Process Optimization work - identifying tremendous opportunities for savings and efficiencies, along with major improvements for customer experience. With ever increasing municipal fiscal pressures we can train your teams in our methodology so that they can execute BPO programs on an ongoing basis.


Business Continuity and disaster recovery planning

One of our principal consultants has deep domain experience in Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery planning and is one of only 200 Certified Business Continuity Professionals in Canada accredited with the Disaster Recovery Institute. Our team has worked with numerous municipalities developing IT Service Continuity Plans and Strategies.


BroadBand Strategy and planning

High speed, broadband connectivity has become both an essential need for communities, for businesses and children studying from home, and a differentiator for attracting businesses. Our team has decades of experience in the municipal and rural broadband domain, and we have worked with a number of organizations to evaluate and set broadband strategy.
